Fun Places Enroute

From the south: Northampton, Massachusetts is a wonderful college town, just off of Rt 91 (exit 18-20). International restaurants, lots of fun shops to explore.

Consider an apple pie and other gourmet deli foods and coffee from the Vermont Country Deli. Exit 2 off I-91, Brattleboro, west toward Marlboro and Bennington. Unfortunately they do not have a public rest room there. There should be one next door at the gas station.

Also, consider stopping in Hanover, New Hampshire (home of Dartmouth College) classy small college town. East off Rt 91 at exit 13. The Hanover Coop Food Store (on Park Ave) is great for gourmet and health food items.

From the west: Montpelier is a wonderful mini-city. The only capitol in the US without a McDonalds! Lots of interesting restaurants, small shops, the Vermont Capitol buildings, used bookstores, some local crafts and artisan goods.
